Becoming a coin forum snitch? Trollfest 2019

So I started reporting all the multiple threads that are miscategorized, excessively prolific nonsense and similar.
I hate “tattling” or being a snitch, but our forum is being abused daily.
Three or more threads by the same people day after day after day, on the same kinds of coins, refusing to do any of their own research.
This has crossing beyond obnoxious into a new territory.
I am not trying to bash on new members, just point the troll epidemic and hope we can stop feeding them with replies and all start reporting this abuse.

Sorry..... I don't think they have a troll badge
They are answering each others questions now. The blind leading the blind
I see two folks posting today who coincidentally joined the same day. Posting coincidentally similar photos and posting M.O...
Strange coincidence

I was going to confront them but I was afraid I might of gotten banned.
Or worse yet be wrong. But I noticed the MO same questions different name. Multiple posts , ect.
Your not being a snitch either.
...only the MODs know the true rats here...all rats should strictly be used for lab testing, preferably, prolonged starvation studies
I get what you are saying. But the hard part is differentiating from true trolls or newps. Sometimes it's not clear. You know what I'm saying. Can someone devise a "troll sensor"? Not really is my guess. I'm sure our mod would like this -- please forward ideas accordingly (IP addresses is one). A few of our members have been VERY patient with repeat posts. Please also give them credit for trying to bring new collectors into the fray. We WANT new members! Thx @Aspie_Rocco
Aspie, you're the MAN!
I don't understand how any would go on and on and on without showing a slight effort to independently do the initial research and study first.
My "Free Cherry Book" contest awhile ago did not attract a single newbie ...... finally just give a damn book away to an older member begging for it.
Where I’m from snitches get stitches

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
I wasn't begging, I just asked about 16X, "is this a DD" and you texted me, "just take the damned BOOK!"
"A dog breaks your heart only one time and that is when they pass on". Unknown
Good for them.

My Fish are attracted to coins, at least @ifthevamzarockin promises not to go fishing in my tank 👍😊
The problem is that there is no definition of a “troll” as it pertains to this forum’s rules.

Then, there is CU’s TOS: http://www.collectorsuniverse.com/TermsOfUse
I am sure the administrator (not mods, unless s/he has admin rights) can figure out the orginating sources for all incoming IPs, regardless of username.
another approach ... stop responding & stop clicking ... if we recognize a "possible troll" and it seems reasonably clear who the current offenders are, the types of questions being asked, and the pocket change being posted ... just scroll on ... don't feed them. my modern day 2 cents (similar to those posted).

Nice lure.
Perhaps it's time we crafted a "New Members - Read Before Posting" sticky.
General info about posting clear photos, front & back - describing what they see in detail, and asking they do basic research first and providing links to the numerous online resources and education sites.
I don't mind new members asking questions you would expect from inexperienced collectors. If they have good photos, and ask specific questions to confirm their own findings, great.
The posts of a run over parking lot coin with a simple "What is this" is what bugs me. Then when they repeat the behavior can be trying at times. I just ignore those who aren't interested in learning, rather more interested in arguing.
Those that start off asking "newbie" questions but... learn, and progress, and are truly interested in increasing their knowledge of numismatics, I'll research and help them all day long.

Agree and there are aleady numerous posts/discussions about this. A simple search will reveal many threads on CU.
Perhaps, @Aspie_Rocco could update his OP in his stickied thread to add something for new members. https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/1006619/resources-books-to-read-on-numismatic-series-and-varieties
I think why a lot of new posters get falsely labeled as trolls is because they don't know how to ask follow up questions. In a face to face conversation with someone it's easy to have a conversation where the dialog flows back and forth even if there are redundant questions that we on a forum would consider as arguing. I think this is particularly evident when a new poster got thrust into the coin world due to an inheritance or some other manner. Sometimes they do a little research but are overwhelmed by the info they do discover and post here for answers.
Just my thoughts trying to come from a different perspective.

If you think it's bad here, go over to collectivecoin.com and witness the chaotic mess of pocket change for sale. Absolutely no filters there.
