Hello one and all. Here are a couple photos of finds deep down in my collection.
First off an 1829 Capped Bust half dime that is in half decent shape for being almost 200 years old.. but had TWO HOLES DRILLED IN IT!!
then I found something kinda weird. A regular old 1974 Lincoln penny with something extra. Any thoughts on this? Why is that there and just....why?

Welcome to the forum @wnkt. The cent was counterstamped after it left the US Mint. They are novelty cents. Do a goog search and you will find many.
Thanks for the reply @Hemispherical I didn't know what that was called but I did find a bunch of them on Google
My personal favorite of the novelty cents is the one counterstamped with Kennedy's head glued to the list of odd assassination coincidences.
My favorite novelty LIncoln was Lincoln smoking a pipe, with smoke rings coming out of it. I paid a quarter (silver) for it when I was a little kid and thought it was the most amazing thing !
The Lincolns with the individual state counterstamps came in a 50 coin set, I vaguely remember having one in my youth.

The half dime was most likely a "whizzer coin" not to be confused with a whizzed coin, they were played with by kids in the pre-digital age.
