I am so sad to read that Tom terrific has been diagnosed with dementia and is retiring from public life. He was a favorite of mine. Diseases of the brain are such a devastating and sad thing. I know he was diagnosed with Lyme disease a number of years ago and that hit him hard. I don't know if this new diagnosis is in any way related.

I do consider myself lucky to have been able to meet him briefly about 18 years ago. A great man for sure

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

Hopefully the disease is slow and he has many happy years left.

You cannot be a baseball fan and not be a fan of Tom Seaver. Great pitcher and class act all the way.

First I've heard of this and very sad to hear it. If there is any good news about this, there are some hopeful strides being made with medicines and other treatments to lessen or even possibly stop dementia.

Wishing Tom the best and as much good luck as possible fighting this disease.

I watched him pitch. He always seemed like a nice man.

    Terrible disease.

74 is way to young to get it.

Being from NYS I loved Tom on the mound and in the booth
My dad had Alzheimer's and it is very sad to see someone decline.

I was 10 when he spent a year with the Red Sox. Good memories.
