Show me your rims..............the 3rd side

AUandAGAUandAG Posts: 24,537 ✭✭✭✭✭

With some coins the rims are the key....Show me your technique to show them off. This pic is a coin in a flashlight reflector.
Of course this is an 1883 Racketeer Nickel....

The third side of the coin is the edge. The rim is the raised part comprising the circumference of each side of the coin.

I keep a flashlight reflector on my desk and when I go to a thrift shop I always check for them.

Don’t have any picture but I have a very rough 1794 lettered edge large cent I cherry picked for 2$ Probably the only two words on the edge you can fully read are ONE and A.

These just came in the mail today: 2 oz bullion silver. I had to put the coin away after the rims cut my finger.

Speaking of rare, can you imagine a better way to market a plain edge rarity?? :D

Always liked the edge of this modern commemorative... reeding AND edge lettering! Only available on the mint state version and NOT on the proof.

The rims are above and below those lines, in another dimension :joy:

There are at least two common edge types missing... >:)

The Indian gold $10 edge is a series of stars representing each state---46 until 1912 when two more stars were added for Arizona and New Mexico who joined the union that year.
