50 HR’s 50 KO’s?? 🤷♂️
impossible to know. so hard to judge the talent of Negro league players. the top players were no doubt MLB quality, but from what I have read, the depth of talent was much more shallow than in MLB. I am sure Satch would have been a star, but he would not have thrown 100 no hitters, 2000 wins etc in MLB. I am sure Babe would have hit over .300 against him with good power. it was a lefty/righty matchup.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Satch would have struck him out 100 times!
In 126 plate appearances, Babe would have walked 20 times; in his 106 AB, he would have hit 7 HR, 2 3B, 9 2B, and 14 singles. That would give him a BA of .302, an OBP of .413, and SLG of .623 for an OPS of 1.035. He would have struck out 23 times.
You're welcome.
Just curious how you came to these numbers?
Paige had a MLB lifetime pitching record of 28-31
Doesn't seem so great to me.
He spent his most productive years in the Negro Leagues. By the time he got to the Majors he was old enough to retire.

I started with Ruth's actual stats against Walter Johnson and assumed that he would have done a little bit better (10% or so) against Paige, reflecting my WAG that Johnson was about 10% better than Paige. Note that as good as my made up numbers for Ruth are, they are well below his career averages. Paige was undoubtedly a great pitcher, but so was Walter Johnson, and Ruth hit very well against Johnson and every other pitcher.
with his differing deliveries and motions I think Satchel Paige would have been a challenge for the Babe. it's just too bad that by the time Satch arrived in the Majors he was almost done and his Fastball had deteriorated. the fly in the ointment is that he developed the varying deliveries only because of an injury that took away some of his Fastball. had he been able to pitch in the Majors when he was 30 with his fastball AND the delivery/motion it would have been entertaining.
most great pitchers figure out how to stay a step ahead of the hitters, most great hitters figure out how to catch up with the pitchers.
it would have been an epic challenge for both players.
Perhaps there may have been 25 intentional walks.
