Scrolling at the bottom of the screen tonight along w/scores and such was the record sale of a Tom Brady RC for $400k! Did anyone else see this? This is the highest price paid for a football card. Is this his Topps RC?

This and the Jordan card has been followed by many since the auction went up a couple of weeks ago. The story has been making the rounds with Yahoo Sports, ESPN, local news, etc.. There's another thread on it already.

As for the record, I believe it's the new record for "Modern" sports cards now overall, but I'm not sure if it's the all time record for football in general though. Some of that vintage stuff can be extremely pricey.

I think it is great for the hobby. there is a general misconception that sports cards are no longer worth anything. getting this info on screens can help change this.
