1980's "Leaf" baseball cards Vs. "Donruss" cards.

I seem to have a lot of mid 1980's "Leaf" baseball cards. I know there is some difference between Donruss and Leaf at the time but they are the same card pictures and design. For example I have a perfect looking 1986 Leaf Frank McGriff Rated Rookie. Is it worth the same amount as the tradition al "Donruss" rookie? Am I right that was a Canadian thing? Please help a lost boy out.

Yes Leaf was the Canadian version of Donruss. 1986 Leaf set did not have a Canseco rookie and isn't valued as much as the 86 Donruss set. However the 1987 and 1988 Leaf boxes and sets are more rare and more valuable than the Donruss.

The backs are bilingual French/English and the sets are 264 cards.

I picked up a 1985 Leaf Wax Box (minus 6 packs), 2 1985 Leaf Sets and one each of 1986 - 1988 sets for $50 last year. All the cards were in great condition but centering is all over the map. The 1985 box was a gamble (Low priced one) as the packs were loosely sealed, but I pulled 2 each of Puckett and Clemens RCs from the box so they were good.

Nice little sets but they missed a few key cards such as the Canseco RC. Even here in Canada, they are not plentiful but not appreciated (yet). Whenever I see a wax box, if it looks ok, I pick it up and put it away. I just bought 2 - 1988 boxes for $5 CDN each recently.....1987 and 1988 boxes do seem to come up less than 1986 and 1985 in my travels....

It's all supply and demand. That's why a 1986 Topps Ryne Sandberg can go for more than a 1983 Topps in 10.

I have always loved both opc and leaf cards. I wish all the iconic 80's rookies had both opc and leaf cards: 80 henderson, 82 ripken, 83 boggs, 85 mcgwire and clemens etc. an 1984 leaf Mattingly would be the bees knees!

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

It would have been awesome to see Leaf parallels of the early Donruss sets (1981-1984), a full 660-card set for 1977 OPC, 726-card sets for 1978-1981 OPC, and 792-card sets for 1982-1989 OPC.

I have a gemmy looking 1986 Leaf RR Fred McGriff. Is it worth getting graded? not sure how the value of the Leaf cards is compared to the Donruss.

A PSA 10 Leaf McGriff is worth about $250. A PSA 9 Leaf is worth about $25.

I wish there was a 1984 Leaf version. That would be sweet
