Need to be schooled on these...

2 silver in color pennies....
1998 d weight is 2.50 has some edge damage which exposes the under plate i see no copper tones have magnified pic of it
. When i look it up same stuff basically but id prefer hearing yalls input.
1973 d weight 3.13 not as much info on these when i look it up i assume some plating or removal of has been done on both but figured it would give a different weight then what im getting.
Any info is appreciated thank yall.

    The 1998 cent had its copper plating oxidized away. Old science experiment with calcium hydroxide and sulfur. There are other methods.

    The 1973 had the opposite done. Vinegar solution, sacrificial anode (ex. zinc) and electrical current will produce a copper coin with a zinc coating/plating.

    I agree with the good old days comment for sure.....i assumed it was something to the effects of what you said just wasnt 100% on what i had....i know it wasnt that retirement aluminum cent though lol
