2011 Topps Update Gold Trout

I was looking at the pop reports for the Trout 2011 Update diamond, blue, cognac, and gold. It seems to me that there's not a lot of love for the gold version. The pop report for the gold is significantly lower than the diamond yet they seem to sell for close to the same price. I was looking at the completed listings for all the versions and it looks like they all sell for around the same price if not too far off from each other. I would think the gold which is also serial numbered would bring a significant amount more than all the other versions and also being a lower pop. What am I missing?
Don't people like gold or do diamonds sound better? What are your thoughts on the future of all the versions?

The diamond and cognac have much better eye appeal IMO

There is some funny business going on with Trout Golds. Note PWCC and them pulling some auctions recently. The pop report in PSA 10’s have also jumped up quite quickly. I’m a Trout collector and am steering clear.
