Some are very pretty, but be carful as colors like on your '53 can be created quite easily and many do make it into tpg holders. I'm not a big toner guy but there are quite a lot of toned Lincoln fans here that can post up some nice ones; however I do have a few that I like.

@coinbuf I'll take not of this. How is the process done?
I have an early 60’s proof set with a Lincoln toner like the 53. I’m pretty sure it hasn’t been tampered with....it was purchased from the USM and been tucked away all these years. I also recall there is someone that has a collection of these blue Lincoln toners.

It can be done with MS70 and ordinary dish soap, I experimented with some low value 40's and 50's coins several years ago so that I would better know what to look for. The results vary depending on the condition of the sample coin, fully brown dark MS coins yielded some nice looking (tho AT) coins in my experience. Keep in mind that not all blue/purple toned copper is created by man it can happen under natural conditions such as the mintset cardboard holders. That is why its difficult to spot and why I said to be carful, usually the AT ones start to look dull and the color loses its vibrancy over time. But when fresh from the lab thay can look quite nice.
