E Pluribus Unum Out of many, one

Aspie_RoccoAspie_Rocco Posts: 3,259 ✭✭✭✭✭

My Latin is rusty so I had to google E Pluribus Unum and found it translates to
Out of many, one

This motto is said to represent the original 13 Colonies joining to become the United States 🇺🇸

Just thought I would share this tidbit.

For me, of the many series of coins, there is one favorite.

Yes, as with many things there is more than one potential meaning. It was probably understood to represent one nation from 13 colonies, but also one united people from many different backgrounds. Our diversity has always been a tremendous source of strength and innovation. Unfortunately, the current political debate has clouded the issue. While we do have widely publicized race issues in this country, we have made incredible progress. Believe it or not, it's a lot worse in other places.

Nice Jeff, BTW. Here's one of mine:

And here I thought it meant "a dime a dozen" :p Guess with the 13 Colonies that would have been "a disme a baker's dozen".

Having seen this coin in hand I can say this is one time when the True View doesn't really capture the magic.

It is a stunner for sure. That was an eBay pick in 2017? Love the colors it has. Something about some of the 38 and 39 nickels can develop some colorful trippy toning. Here are some bad pics of a nice 39 I recently acquired

I will get the point and shoot w tripod one day
