1820 Capped Bust Half, Square Base 2, No Knob O.108 R2 PCGS AU58.....SOLD

Incredible strike (including all stars, hair curls, eagle’s feathers, talons, etc), virtually full cartwheel luster on both sides, a hint of light golden toning at the edges but otherwise untoned, and minimal marks for the grade. Just a beautiful example of a tough date in everyone’s favorite grade!

The 1820 O.108 also happens to be a class IV doubled die, the only true doubled die bust half with hub doubling seen in the ENTIRE CBH series! The doubling is clearly seen on the reverse in the lower olive leaves and left sided eagle claws. Pretty cool if you ask me!

Behind the 1815/2 and the 1807, the 1820 has the third lowest mintage in the entire CBH series and is thus always in demand. Would make a great type coin for a set.
