Anyone know if this is the first bank note issued by this government? Peace Roy
That's a nice note - is it yours?
The Banknote Book lists the first British Guiana note as B101, 1 dollar red with sailing ships on front and back, 1916. Yours is B105, from 1929.
Yes it is. Found it in an old book in my father-in-law's effects. He was a WW2 fighter pilot over Africa and Italy. Just found a third note from French Occidental Africa that I shall post shortly.
That is one nice note. My mistake on the earlier post, yours is #B107a, not 105. If it's UNC like it appears from here, value is $700 or so. It needs to be protected in a holder and kept in a safe place!
It's holdered and safe. Yes it appears to be AU. Nice that it was in a fat book all this time. Thanks for attributing it for me. Are you using a reference book or a website?
The Banknote Book, at https://www.banknotenews.com/banknote_book/banknote_book.php but it's a purchased e-Book, not an online catalog.
Beautiful note Namvet69, both sides of it are lovely.
Look after it
Thanks for noticing. Mint and beautiful color to boot.
