Can anyone explain the new postal rates?

Over 90% of what I sell gets shipped in a 4 x 7 padded envelope weighing less than 4 oz. Up until recently, the labels cost $2.68 on Ebay. A few days ago, a label cost $2.96, then the next day $3.09. And finally yesterday, my cost went down to $2.66. Is there something new about the destination its mailed to, in addition to its weight that would cause the cost to change? I'm confused.

Thanks. Tom

    Yes...it is more.
Ok, that's not the answer you are looking for. The prices have changed depending on where you are shipping the item or what "zone". Being in the midwest, I haven't seen a huge difference. A Couple packages that used to be $2.66 were $2.96 but otherwise my prices have stayed the same.

I believe there are new regional rates for first class packages. Still, don't discount the possibility that eBay doesn't fully understand the new postage rates.

  • Thank you for the explanation Promethius. I was wondering why my rates changed as well. That explains it

There is also a big difference between 4 and 5 ounces and every ounce after that.
