The link above is for Prussian 20 Mk coins, Hamburg is a Hansestadt that minted it's own coins until 1914. A caution on finding a date that is out of reported dates from Hamburg is that they were forged ca. 1960s and still plaque unsuspecting collectors - I got burned on one I bought in Hamburg in 1991.

Saor Alba, I believe these were mainly coming from Lebanon at that time and later from PRoC. OR from the famous German Dentist from Karlsruhe (Black Forrest) turned forger of "near authentic" gold coins even the banks accepted They were not able to tell the difference at the time with what they had on "tools" to check..
I also got stung in Germany with a few I purchased at the bank I alway did business. about 10 years later on a visit the manager wanted to chat with me and low and behold, made it up to me. It came as a surprise.
These were the times in the 80ties where you could still walk in to a bank and buy US or Canadian silver and Gold coins.

The example above is a lot sharper with details than mine, and has a prooflike surface. Mine is an older example dated 1910-J the date of which doesn't actually exist. I believe it was made as a contemporary monetary counterfeit.

BTW @YQQ you could walk into banks even in the early 1990s and purchase gold coins for a small percentage over spot. I bought some Dutch 10 Guilder coins in Amsterdam. The fake 20 Mk coin was purchased from a coin dealer in Hamburg.
