Question about Heritage auction shipping

I won a coin in Heritage FUN auction and after 2 weeks since I paid for it still hasn't been shipped. My question is how does Heritage determine what coins to ship out first. By the lot number or by the its value? There was a 1885 Trade Dollar that sold for almost 4 million dollars and I hope they were the first to get their coin.

It's based on order of payment. But it is very, very SLOW! Two weeks is common for them. They have to ship it back from Florida to Dallas, first, and that can take a week just by itself.

HA can be slow for US coins 1-2+ weeks, even slower it seems for paper money, ancients, and world coins 2-3+ weeks. Purely for comparison purposes, SB has been 7-10 days after payment received, sometimes faster. GC is usually either next day or same day when payment was made early in the morning.

Sounds like times have changed. Back when I bought a lot more from HA maybe 5 plus years ago they would ship the coins before I even had a chance to pay. Seemed like they shipped directly from the show.

Ha is not the same ha as couple years ago. It is bad now. Charge high shipping and very slow in shipping.

This is my comparison with SB and HA.

1. HA sold price generally higher than SB (good for seller bad for Buyer).
2. HA charge higher shipping than SB
3. HA ship slower than SB
4. HA don't take credit card for dealer (HA 2500 for not dealer, SB 1500 for everyone)
5. HA wants payment faster than SB
6. HA website is better than SB
7. Research on past price on HA is much better than SB

The last time I got a coin from Heritage they shipped the coin before I paid for it.

My limited experience with HA cause me to figure two weeks - if it shows up sooner, then you'll be happy...

They ship to me before I pay, my coin arrived about 10 days after closing of the auction at FUN.

Here is the notification I get about shipping:

"To expedite shipment (as appreciation of your established loyalty), this invoice will be shipped on Open Account, without waiting to confirm payment. "

I suspect if one spends some money with them over a given amount of time, they give you some kind of priority for shipping.

Heritage has overcharged as well as had very slow shipping going back many years. I've long since given up on them as I believe Great Collections eats their lunch in every metric.

If you set up echeck with Ha you can get your shipping for very low cost close to GC............

Last coin I bought at Stack's I received 4 days after the auction. Heritage needs to improve a lot to get even close.

Just received an invoice reminder from HA this morning. Sent them back a screen shot showing that payment was made eight days ago. Their processes are in need of an overhaul.

Shipping is where Heritage take a big ding. Slower than a dead snail stuck in a dead pitcher plant that is glued shut.

I don't expect immediate shipping, but I don't think having it ship the next business day after payment is unreasonable. GC, Stacks and many others seem to do it that way.

That’s not true. I have echeck with ha and I pay right away when I get my invoice. They still treat me bad. They ship anywhere from a week to 4 weeks. Even with weekly internet auction. They never ship on the same week. That’s why I will buy a lot less from them.

I know Heritage can be slow. But it is unfair to directly compare their signature sales to GC. GC has the coins at the office the whole time whereas Heritage has to first send them back to the office via armored carrier which takes a few days at minimum. And I find it weird how people complain about slow shipping on the big coins when you could always just go to the show where the auction is taking place and take it home with you... Also, that leads me to assume you haven't seen the coins in person you are buying which makes me think of a whole other bunch of questions.

I think filled out a credit application with them at some point in the past. Seems to speed up shipping.

I never had a problem with slow shipping. I believe it's due to being a Legacy client. Most coins I won had to have shipped directly from the show...even if I hadn't paid. Haven't bought anything in the last year so I guess things could have changed.

They are charged me high shipping cost. In fact my shipping cost was lower before but now it is almost double.

Glad their customers get so much good customer service for that 20% buyer's fee.

For that amount per coin shipping should be FREE.

Basically for weekly internet auction it will be shipped in 4 to 8 days and any other auctions will be shipped in two to four weeks. In every my invoice they said this "IMPORTANT: To expedite shipment (as appreciation of your established loyalty), this invoice will be shipped on Open Account, without waiting to confirm payment". So you can image if you are not in this kind of account the shipping will be even slower. I always pay on the same day when they email me the invoice.

In June 2018, my invoice total is $14,736 and the shipping is $63.92.
In December 2017, my invoice is $15.360 and the shipping is $18.08 (very good rate, I did not use echeck)

In December 6, 2018 my invoice is $7, 276 and the shipping is $60.67.
In December 7, 2018 my invoice is $5,850 and the shipping is $ 77.50 (not coin but it still way over charged).

I used to buy weekly on HA the more you buy the more they screw you (sometimes twice a week. LOL).

I have to say HA customer service is good especially those lady. They are very sweet and nice.
I also want to say both HA and SB packing is very good.

Below is what SB charged me:

August 2018, invoice is $8,784 and the shipping is 35.50
January 2018 invoice is $20,640 and the shipping is $41
April 2017, invoice is $29,357 and the shipping is $67.50

Aren't you outside the U.S.?

I wouldn't ship a $1000 package outside the U.S. for less than $50. There's no good way to do it safely for less than that.

Depends on how you value your time. They have to pay someone to pack and ship, as well as buy supplies and self-insure. If you ship a $2000 coin via registered insured mail, it will cost you $20+, that's all Heritage charges. And even if it only costs them $10, they have to pay someone to package it. I don't think they make as much as you think on shipping.

Biggest complaint about Heritage is that they charge way too much for shipping. But their packages were always shipped via FedEx or Priority mail, and got here in two days. My latest was shipped (at a very high cost, of course!) by "FedEx Smartpost" which is always slow. Took a week to arrive!

No Headlights

Most coins I have purchased from Heritage ($500-$2000 is my normal range)have shipped Priority. No signature required. Just show up in the mailbox. Still charged triple the postage cost. I’m in the they are too high camp
