Question about reconsideration service

I have a couple of PCGS coins that, to me at least, seem to be under graded. Last time, I cracked one out and it came back as the same grade, and in the process I lost my old holder. My question....is the current grade shielded from the grader when they re-grade it, or do they look at it, then look at the grade and say “yep, it’s a 66”.
Just trying to get more info before making a decision on what I am going to do.
Thanks
George

Wondered that myself. What about a cross from another TPGS.
We are told that the graders do not see the existing grade. Crossovers and reconsiderations are harder because the graders cannot see the whole coin. Given that, coins that cross or upgrade under these methods usually need to be really strong because the graders don't want to have made a mistake once the slab is cut open. If you feel strongly about the coin and don't want to lose the old holder if no upgrade, then reconsideration is your best bet. Good luck and keep us posted!
