The Short Cross Penny was issued by Henry II , Richard I , John & Henry III 1180 - 1247. All coins had the same obverse
hENRISVS REX and the reverse was the moneyer and the mint name. The dies were done by hand using basic punches
so you will notice the same punch used for different parts of the design. There are eight classes and all but class two
have sub classes.
Henry II Class 1a4
Richard I Class 2
Richard I Class 3ab2
John Class 4c
John Classs 5a2
John Class 6c1
Henry III Class 7a3
Henry III Class 8c

Fun stuff! Thanks for sharing.
Where can I find out about the different classes and what they are?
Is there a checklist for these coins?
Very cool coins.... What class would this one be?

@sjkrose Thank you very much!!
OK... since there were no guesses! This is actually a class 5 continental imitations of the English Long Cross penny minted under Bernhard III of Lippe, 1252-1265. Quite Rare and came with a great provenance...
