Why is a debunked variety required in the registry? 1941 inverted S Nickel

It was debunked 2 years ago, removed from Cherry Pickers guide and has had a red asterisk for almost 2 years on the registry sets. Why is it still required for complete variety sets? And given a weight of 3? Three...
Will it go away?
Also, on a whiner note, can we remove the 1964 SMS required coins?

I agree with the removed variety, yet don't punish a set just 'cause a coin or two are difficult to obtain. Otherwise remove the 1796 quarter from the type set.
no will never go away, much too popular with nickel variety collectors.

Probably because it takes time and experience to maintain the variety registry lists,
and given their need to cut costs, it is not a big enough priority at present.
Won't they still designate variety if not in latest book (if you pay for variety attribution)?
Supposedly they will not, on this particular variety, because it has been debunked, or determined by Cherry Pickers to be not an actual variety. Things like the 1956 ddo Proof are still listed in the book, just not the main pages. The 41 inverted S has been deleted from the guide.

I do not disagree with you, but it is not on the exclusion list

The debunkers do not want this variety but the bunkers do.

Archie could be very stubborn.
