Uh oh- I give it a 87% probability that Dallas will come on and tell us how Schmidt's postseason numbers
are actually better than Bretts.
Of course not, and the 1.5% of their career games that each played in the postseason should definitely be taken into account in the evaluation. Since Brett was about 20% better than his regular season numbers and Schmidt about 20% worse, Brett makes up about 0.6% of any regular season difference that exists. So while Schmidt may appear to be about 10% better than Brett, the difference is in fact only 9.94%. Glad we could clear that up.

Just reading an article on CBS about the greatest player that wore each number. For #20, it was a tie between Frank Robinson and "the greatest third baseman of all time". The nod for #5 went to Albert Pujols with mention of Joltin Joe, Brett, Bench, Bagwell and Brooks Robinson. The fire seemed to be going out so I needed to pour some gasoline on it.
Schmidt vs, Robinson would make for a far more interesting debate than Schmidt vs. Brett.
A good debate could be had with #5, too, except I don't see any case to be made for Brooks. I'd take Bench in a hypothetical draft, but if Joe D. was going to get play every year and not have to go to war, I'd take him. But I wouldn't be upset no matter who I got.
This is for you @thisistheshow - Jim Rice was actually a pretty good player.
I loved watching Aurelio Rodríguez play. third. He was a great fielder with a crazy strong arm

In his prime, he was tremendous; if he'd been able to hit a lick, he'd have been a household name. And as long as we're giving shout outs, Clete Boyer in his prime was maybe the greatest ever; as many Gold Gloves as Schmidt stole from Evans and Wallach, Brooks Robinson stole just as many from Boyer.

What does the negative - 0.29 WPA during the postseason mean ?
I dunno know . Probably has something to do when Schmidt won the World Series MVP over Brett and the Royals. Kind blows your whole post season thing all to shreds
Schmidt won the regular season and World Series MVP in 1980. The only others to accomplish this feat were Willie Stargell, Frank Robinson, Reggie Jackson and Sandy Koufax.

Mark- you didn't mention Schmidts 1-20 performance in his other world series.
And by the way, Brett did have a pretty bad case of hemorrhoids and still Schmidt barely
outhit him in that series, .381 to .375
What would a healthy Brett have hit coming off of a .390 regular season, and remember George
always hit better in the post season. Probably would have gone 14-24 instead of 9-24.
So mark, who was better in the world series, Brett or Schmidt. They both played in two so its
pretty fair to compare the two.
Bretts career world series batting average- a little better than Ty Cobbs career batting average.
Schmidts career world series batting average- a little above the Mendoza line.

About time! So now my work here is finished.
Bobby Brown
George Brett
Mike Schmidt
No, the greatest third basemen of all time are Bobby Brown, Phil Garner, Pablo Sandoval and Pepper Martin. The greatest Royal of all time, at any position, is Amos Otis. For Pete's sake, do I have to explain your own arguments to you now?

Amos Otis? Did he hunt alligators for a living? Just knock em on the head with his stump?

How did the Royals lose that 80 series?
Amos hit .478 with 3 bombs, Willie Aikens hit .400 with 4 bombs, Brett hit .375 and McRae hit .375!!!
I did notice Willie Wilson was only 4-26 for a .154 average. He was the table setter. If he had gotten
on more it looks like he would have scored a ton of runs.
I really don't remember a lot about it, I normally block painful memories like that from my mind.

Of course I didn’t because the “Flying Line Drive Hitting Brett’s” seem to gloss over the fact that in a head to head World Series Schmidt (MVP) and the Phillies bested Brett. They both only played in two WS so the sample size is minimal.

Why is that sample size minimal ? Unless you played for the Yankees before 1970, your chances of playing in 2 world series is pretty slim.
What you do in the playoffs is always going to be a "small" sample size, but you either put up or shut up. And according to the Go-Go's, Mike's lips are sealed.
He played in two World Series and was MVP in one of them. Brett?

I'd be glad to meet any of you gentlemen at a coin or card show, and I'd be happy to buy the drinks at the bar.
But then if you asked me back to your house to sit in the hot tub with ya while playing George Michael music...sorry but I'd have to say, I've got a plane to catch.

Killebrew wore #25, #12 and #3, so he's the best at THREE numbers! Wow!! Maybe not #3.
Another list has Brett best who wore #5. Over DiMaggio? OMFG
