Strayed again from my core, but was really drawn to this well engraved, appealing baptismal medal.
ND (1630). Saxony. Engraved and initialled by Sebastian Dadler. Obv: Baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan. Rev: Two angels, a tree to the sides, above the dove of the Holy Spirit. View of a baptistery in which a priest holds a child over the baptismal font, around it parents and godfather, above the dove of the Holy Spirit in clouds. Wiecek 68. Maué 88. PCGS MS-65

Wow - very cool! Where did you get it from?
What were these baptismal medals for?

Neat piece of history
That's sharp!

Always boggles the mind the care with which this medal must have been kept over the last 4 Centuries to remain in such pristine condition. Would be cool to find out the chain of ownership, but i know it's often a gargantuan task in itself. Awesome addition, Z!
