Counterfeit Two Pounds?

A family friend who travels a lot, and kindly contributes the pocket change to my collection, recently brought back some coins from the UK. The two pounds stood out to me, and looked off. On closer inspection, some of the lettering looked off, and the portrait doesn't look like Royal Mint work to me. Is this a counterfeit, and has anyone here seen similar ones? Sorry for the bad cell phone pics.

Unless QEII was constipated when the artist engraved this, definitely fake.

Thank you everyone for the input! I'm sure my globe-trotting friends will get a kick learning they got a counterfeit during their travels.
