To auto grade or not to auto grade!

I’m preparing my first order for grading and I have some auto cards included. Is it better to have the dual grade or is it unnecessary? I know that having a 10 auto grade can enhance some value as far as resale is concerned;however, will an 8 or 9 decrease an overall value? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! I wouldn’t have thought that this would be such a hard decision to make.

if its a current auto that doesn't need PSA/DNA dual service, i wont waste time getting the auto graded. I personally only want the auto grade for older cards and if I know it will grade a 10 because I like how it looks on the label. however, the auto grade isn't necessary, and I really don't think it effects price much. I think it just looks nicer with an auto grade on the label than just having it say "AUTO AUTH".

it's they're not all slam dunk 10s, just do card grade/auto auth

Yeah, they are certified auto cards so authentication isn’t an issue... thank you for the feedback! It’s just difficult because there’s no way to even say that an auto will grade a 10 and I think it would drive me crazy if the card is a 10 and the auto is a 9.

There is a way. Just set your min auto grade at 10.

If you do that, any autos that will get a 9 will be returned to you without being holdered AND you still get charged. So, that's not a very good option.

Well that's not good news for me. I asked for three cards in my last sub to be a min or Authentic. I dont see why they wouldn't do it if you asked.

I agree that it’d be great to do and should be really easy to implement. Hopefully in the future.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed but the 10/10 market has exploded for older cards.

Is there a turnaround time difference between AUTH and a numerical grade? My general rule for everything is, all things being equal, always opt for more information.

I just got off the phone with customer service. Apparently they are willing and able to honor requests of a minimum grade and if that grade is not met it can be done as authentic only. There were discussions about it in the past but it is now possible. Here is a copy of the note that I included with the line item.

"Note: This card was previously graded with cert # 20676384. The old holder label is included for adjustment of the pop report. If the Auto grade does not meet the standards of a 9 please grade the card and authenticate the Auto only. Thank You!

They said that if there is an issue with doing it the sub would be flagged and PSA would reach out prior to being forwarded to grading.
