Metal flow lines. When the planchet is stamped by the slightly convex die, the first contact is the center, which then causes the metal to flow outward from the center to the edges as tons of pressure is applied. Sometimes this can be seen by the appearance metal flow lines.
Yup, see them from time to time on various coins.
