Twenty Cent Weights

The twenty cent weights are up for viewing in the Registry News section - any comments? I like how they broke out the sets into with rarity and without rarity groups (a hint of things to come in other sets?).

In the with rarity set, shouldn't the rarity have a higher weight? Seems low to me.

I don't have too much to say about the Ciculation Strikes (1875-1876) weighting. For the set with 76-CC, Ciculation Strikes (1875-1876), the 76-CC is weighted as 5 and I believe it is well under weighted; nevertheless, how many folks have the 76-CC 20 c. image

Maybe I'm just *itching, but the 20th Century Gold set requires a Rolled and Wire Edge $10 Indian, and a HR Saint, so not requiring the 76-CC seems to cheapen the set, even if it is extremely rare.

Can you really say you have a set without it?

If the 75CC is a 3, shouldn't the 76CC be a 10 instead of a 5?? Granted, not many have a 76CC, but I'm certain that's why they've done two sets, one with and one without. How many weighted sets have the top ranked coin not a 10?

20th Century Type MS No Gold the top piece is the Barber Half at a weight of 8.

I emailed BJ and said I thought the 75-S BMP should be at least a 5 weight (only a couple graded by PCGS vs pops of many hundreds for the other proofs) and the 76-CC should for sure be a 10.

    I just don't see how you can weight a common 75-CC as a 3 and the ultra rare 76-CC as a 5???

    TDN,

Agree -- if PCGS says that you can have a set without it because it is so rare, ought to be weighted as a 10 and probably ought to have bonus points as well.

Why not throw out the "Key" dates from every series so we can all pretend that our sets are complete. Just think of all the money Louis Eliasberg could have saved if someone had come up with this concept earlier.

The 1876 cc should be required for any complete twenty cent circulation strike set and it is a 10 all day long!
