eBay buying question

How do you use a gift card on something that is more than the gift card is for? For example you are buying something for $75 and you have a $50 gift card. Thanks!

    You enter the redemption code on the back of the card at checkout.

    If the card is > purchase, the card retains the balance and you can apply it to future purchases.
    If the card is < purchase, the total will be reduced by the amount on the card and you will be left searching for another payment method to complete your checkout.

    Also in case you have multiple accounts….

    the gift card once partially used can ONLY be used for hat specific ebay account
