It’s just my opinion but I feel that the 1969 ANA convention medals where the best design made
I guess since I pulled them out of the mail box today they count at my first of 2019

That’s a nice design by Frank Gasparro. I have a bunch of the ANA annual medal sets and love that design. I may have that year but I’m not 100% sure.
Did they make any in gold that year?
Yep. That was back when the ANA had a measure of pride and accomplishment. They worked to help and protect the collector and were rewarded with interested, active members. Now, they waddle through, ignore counterfeiting, ignore gross grading problems, ignore consumer ripoffs and sit about filing their nails and telling each other how great things are..... Sorry -- I know that sounds cynical, but that's today's ANA - IMO.
You have a lot of good thoughts on the ANA. Have you thought of running for Governor or President?
I asked about Collectors Committee and it was even approved with a named chairman but I never heard any results from the effort
There has to be a true "ticket" for governor to make any difference at all with ANA. The organization is run by functionaries who do their job year-after-year, and they are the ones that effectively lead ANA. The Executive Director proposes nothing and nothing is what is done. The ANA President, with the official chain of office, is a temporary door stop UNLESS there is a board also committed to positive change and innovation. That takes "name" recognition, money and a willingness by a bunch of influential people to take risks and not just "think outside the box" but to discard the box and return to the core principles of the ANA Charter.
OK....This is too far off from the OP's attractive medal. Let's focus on that.
I re-upped with my 2019 dues, but I am not at all proud of the ANA.
"Do-nothing" is a very very accurate description.
I expect to go to Rosemont in August and figure that will help amortize my dues.
41st Year.
Agreed.
I mentioned I love these Gasparro medals, but since I also like gold, this is my current favorite one. This was designed by James Ford Clapp Jr. and modeled by Joseph DiLorenzo.
There doesn't seem to be great records for the ANA convention gold medals so I'm hoping some gold Gasparro medals exist!
This is the one I wear at the conventions:
Pacific Northwest Numismatic Association
Very nice I’m looking for one in the right condition to go with the ladies badge
