Cut autos for Leaf insert cards...

I am curious how people feel about the card companies buying authenticated autos and cutting them up for insert cards. I spotted this card and quickly matched it up with a recent item that had sold. A signed Bruiser Brody as a chase card is definitely a nice item to potentially land but it seems to me like you are destroying something with historic significance. Not sure how to feel about this. Thoughts?

I feel like it completely ruins the item. I never liked “cut” autos, especially since most of the cuts were originally personalized to someone else. That factor does not bother me either as I have plenty of autos not addressed to me. As for this particular item, I’d much rather have the full sized picture signed for my collection. As for the authenticity of this item... I’m sure there’s still some debate since it is Brody. Being cut into a card sized piece is lame to me. Now a Brody AS card signed is cool as hell. This is just a scrap off a otherwise cool piece. Just my opinion.

I didn’t even know about this, but I’d rather go through you to get my autos done.
I also don’t think that someone should cut up a full photo to make it a cut.

This adds an interesting dynamic to it. Someone bought the auto, chopped it up and then a card was created and they are trying to increase the price by $1,120. The 1 of 1 makes it sound like only one person gets to pull this. How cheesy.

Hopefully not too many cool autos go this route.

Well then this seller is trying to make a cool $1000 plus off his investment. Good work if you can get it. Still the original is better. There’s no point in messing with history and creating something new that wasn’t supposed to exist in that form.

I have mixed feelings on this but the original photo was:

    a) personalized

    b) creased/wrinkled, generally poor condition

If the original photo was in good condition and maybe not personalized, it would be terrible in my opinion what they did.....

Cut autos hold about as much interest for me as "game used" patch cards. None.

What is the deal with Leaf lately? I see "nice" looking cards popping up in my searches, but they don't have team logos (no license I assume?) and they all look cheaply put together, including the branded BGS rip-off holders they're in.

I think it is awesome that some people get enjoyment from memorabilia cards, just not my thing. there is no "right" way to collect. still love your pictures magicpapa!
