Vintage Breaks

I've followed Vintage Breaks on YouTube and most everyone is familiar with the 1955 Bowman cello that was opened at the 2018 National. They continue to open vintage packs, many that are graded by PSA. However, the 1955 Bowman cello still shows in the PSA pop report. Does anyone know if they are going to remove from the pop report the packs that they open? Assuming these breaks continue, how much does it drive up the prices of these already scarce items? Curious of everyone's opinions.

If the person who cracks out any product does not return the insert
the TPG will not remove it from the PoP report. If you crack out product
and not returning the insert then you are hurting the hobby.

They have said on the feeds that they save the flips and send them to PSA to have them removed from the pop reports. The 55 Bowman should be easy enough to have removed. Plenty of video documentation that it no longer exists.

Additionally they noted the cards from the rip on the flip. Would think PSA could have been proactive on this.

  • The Banks only scored a 5??? Seems much nicer than that! Damn; grader of death for sure. I see it’s a slight bit off center top to bottom but I’d grease that higher than a 5. Geez!!

Thanks - I think it is under graded as well. Paid more than a 5 price for it when I bought it. It looks much better in person as my old scanner was awful. I am working on a HOF set from ‘55 Bowman in primarily PSA 8 and this card does not look out of place with the rest of them. It is actually cut larger than most ‘55 Bowmans. I have some 8s with the same amount of top border but less bottom border than the Banks has.

Nothing beats looking at these with a loupe. That’ll tell the story pretty much all the time

They mentioned the Banks in a recent live stream and the reason that it got a 5. Don't remember exactly...maybe a wrinkle or something. I'm sure in hand with a loupe, as mentioned above, with some good light the flaw could be found. It still presents extremely well for a 5.

Does anyone know the reasoning why an 8 can go down to a 5 just because of a wrinkle
that is really only noticeable with a loupe ? I could see a big wrinkle causing an 8 to go to
    a 5, but why couldn't a small wrinkle take it to a 7 instead ?

Best simply put it is in their grading standards that a surface wrinkle caps there

Awesome Banks, it might be the top border above Ernie’s hat. Chipping kind of edge impression might have done it. Centering still looks ok for 7-8.

Rumor is Vintage Breaks is not turning in flips because that would reduce supply on the POP reports, which would drive up the price of the remaining packs; which coincidently, they are trying to buy. Ironic isn't it.

Some might call it ironic. Others a conflict of interest. But since they set the per card price, it shouldn’t matter too much what they pay, since they’re profiting either way. In fact, if they’ve built up a stock, it may actually behoov them to turn them in. Not to mention, it’s just the right thing to do as a steward of the hobby.
