Can anyone tell me about this coin

    Great Britain, Sixpence, 1787, George III. I don't like some of the discoloration on this coin, am slightly suspicious.

    There is a shilling coin that is very similar but twice the size and weight.

    What do you think could have caused the discoloration I found it in a plastic folder in an old set of draws

    Get your magnet out, test it, weight it and measure diameter. Could be a coating of pvc, dirt, dust. Soak it in acetone, do not rub and come back. Peace Roy
