Does anyone have any ideas for removing these orange lines on the back of this medal? There is also a spot on the obverse along with the rims. The coin is zinc not silver.

Is it possible it's zinc coated iron or steel and that is rust?

I am not sure, I have only seen this one before in silver but on the rim it says "Zink". For comparison here is one on Ebay, there are also a few similiar sold listing.

So it could be an improper alloy mix or a chemical stain reaction. Soak it in acetone, couldn't hurt it.
