Yeh, that was kinda a cheat. If you were a STAMP collector, you'd a got it. ;)

I see a lot of stamp albums at estate sales. Most of the time they’ve been picked through.

If coins follow the same path as stamps. The common stuff will be easily had, and whatever is better will be squirreled away. Only the best stuff will be collected.

I would also add that I probably would feel the same way regardless, but the fact that coins have not been able to catch much of an audience over the past several years when people are spending money on anything and everything, is really what put the "nail in the coffin" in my mind.

you say "coins have not been able to catch much of an audience over the past several years." The numismatic market can not be generalized as one generic market. I have seen condition census liberty quarter eagles go from having little demand for years to being downright impossible to find in the last year and a half and when they do appear go for very strong prices. CAC old gold has seen very strong prices. Many collections have sold in the past couple years for strong prices. Some coins have not had much traction but others have. it is unfair to generalize your point of view to include all coins.

You say people are spending money "on anything and everything" but not coins just doesn't seem to be true. Hansen has spent not millions, not tens of millions, but hundreds of millions in the last couple of years alone ! There are others spending tens of millions but doing it more privately. Look at the tyrant collection that until the last year was unknown and is worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

You have the right to be as pessmestic as you want but the facts just dont support you.
