    $16,500 for a PSA 10 in a recent auction. $42,000 for a SGC 100? Wish I could afford either.

I’m not up on sheet cuts. I take it they are graded and notated on the slab as such? If so, if size is legit how is that determined? I’d think a great cut job passes...

"I’m not up on sheet cuts. I take it they are graded and notated on the slab as such?"

Neither PSA nor SGC will grade a sheet-cut card if they determine it's been sheet-cut (Beckett will, though)... But, I'm sure there have been a bunch that have been unknowingly slabbed.

Wrong but right. That’s an old flip so they should not have graded it based on their policy of the time. Now they will, but only if you have them cut the sheet if I’m not mistaken. So they don’t grade sheet cut cards if submitted but they will cut your sheet and grade your “sheet cut” cards now.

I thought SGC would only cut cards that were only available in uncut form like SI for kids, food issues etc.

Any thoughts on why you think they went to SGC instead of PSA? I thought PSA brings more money. It's not like it's a "older" card which SGC gets it reputation from.

Maybe they were worried PSA would reject it as sheet cut?

Psa does not have an "11," sgc does with "pristine."

I also do not care if it's a sheet cut card or not. It is gorgeous regardless. It's like the argument about people who climb Mount Everest with the aid of oxygen tanks or without. Some say the people who use external oxygen are less skilled climbers than those who climb Everest without . Either way, you climb Mount Everest, who cares if you used O2 or not.

I really hope that almost nobody wants the designated sheet cut cards from SGC when they become available. If they look like that (if it is indeed sheet cut) I would much rather have it than one cut from the factory. I am betting they go for more than most on this board think they will. Time will tell.

I think I’m fine with sheet cuts as long as they are within size parameters. And as long as said sheet wasn’t just printed

As long as it states "sheet cut" on the flip, then it's up to you whether you want to buy it. To say it's even remotely the same as a card that was factory cut, packaged, shipped, opened/kept by consumer and then graded can't be serious or have a agenda.

There's a whole thread about SGC's new sheet cut service. You guys should bump that up if you want to discuss its merits. I don't think it's fair to have it out here in this thread.
