When a company makes a mistake, how do you make them correct it

Help?
If a company makes a mistake, let us say with identifying an object, how does a customer go about, firmly but with tact, getting them to fix it?
And if they double down and refuse to correct the mistake, what then for vindication? Complain to who?

    @Aspie_Rocco,

    Correspond by letter, certified mail return receipt. Present problem and solution as customer who paid for something and didn't get it. Don't get drawn into side discussions about irrelevant stuff. If it is interstate commerce, then file a complaint with the FTC. If not consumer complaints go to your state Attorney General's office, or do both. Peace Roy

    LOL, yeah sue the grading service because they missed your insignificant variety the first time around. Then, you'll really have something to complain about when they hold your next submission for three months and return them all with no decision. :p

    Don't fight City Hall, work with them.
