Why does the two headed quarterback not work?

CoinstartledCoinstartled Posts: 10,135 ✭✭✭✭✭

Denver was skidding a couple decades ago and tried alternating two QB's in a game. I recall that it didn't work so well.

Some real talented backups have spent large portions of their careers holding a clipboard. Steve Young and Aaron Rodgers come to mind.

It could work it’s just that no team has either given it a long term try or they don’t have a good enough back up to warrant taking the starter out.

Perkdog is right in that having a backup as talented as the starter is rare. Ego also gets involved

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

On the other hand, a third of the teams have a backup as untalented as the starter.

I don't think you could get two QBs to split the $20 mil/yr.

I know it sure would be hard to make ends meet on 10 million a year!!

I'm pretty sure I could get by, but why would they agree to get paid 50% of market to sit on the bench half the game?

Romo could have used a reliever in the late innings.

What are you talking about? Romo had a ton of 4th quarter comebacks and was the only reason Dallas won more than 5 games a season for most of his career. His 4th quarter stats were better than any other quarter over his career. You can look it up but you've never been one to let facts get in the way. Same reasoning behind the assertion that Babe Ruth was too slow and wouldn't be able to excel today. LOL..

I won't argue about Romo's stats. They are what they are. But he is still the choke artist that I will always loath.

And I DEFINITELY believe the players are better now than they were in the 20's and 30's. Ruth exceled in his era, but would not have in the 50's to date. The pitching is so much better today......surely you agree with that.

If I were picking a team Ruth could not break in. LG would be at 1st and my outfielders would be Mays, Mantle and Williams with Joe D as a 4th OF. How could you possibly not like this team
