Have a question on my D.Winfield Yankees Jersey

somebody the other day commented on my 2002 Fleer Greats of the games through the years red gu jersey of D.Winfield... and where they got a red swatch from a yankees jersey... well i looked at the bottom of the jersey and it said game worn- alternative jersey.... what is this? lmk thanks

I think an alternative jersey is a 3rd jersey worn for special occasions..not home and not road..im not sure, but i believe thats it
