seems about right, for early 90's pricing. Did I ever want the 91 Ultra Update set back then.

    Wow.

All and all, I have really good memories from that era. Every Saturday I would hit at least 3 to 4 shops and the flea market.

And my SCD had 300+ pages!

    Wow,

I bought all 4 of those for $14 total in the last few months. I have bought all the 1976 - 1980 Topps, 1980's Topps, Fleer, OPC, Leaf and Donruss sets and picked 1 or 2 sets from each year of the 90's to present. I know that they won't be worth much ever, but that was my collecting era and I got out in my early 20's and sold almost everything (I know I lost money on it but would have lost even more if I was selling it now.) It's fun getting the sets I had and some I couldn't afford, cheap! There are a few small holes in the 2000's but I wait for deals to fill them. For example I just bought a 2012 Topps baseball sealed factory set for $20 CDN at a show last month.

Refresh my memory why 1987 Donruss Rookies was a $45 set in '91. Both Mark McGwire and Bo Jackson were near the to top of the Beckett "cold" list (remember that??), Greg Maddux was never a high dollar card and I can't think of any other card in the set that was even worth $5 in '91.

I should add you can pick up 1987 Rookies Sets in bargain bins for $2 - 3 each. They are often stuck in with the lesser expensive 88 - 91 sets, although I really like the design of all Rookies sets.

Ah yes, I'd forgotten about Matt Williams. His cards got some love for a while.

It really is a blast to go back and buy all the stuff we couldnt afford as kids. I have done the same. now i have lots and lots of shelves with binders of very low value cards from that era, but i sure do love looking at them.

George Brett, Bobby Orr and Terry Bradshaw.

@craig44 I totally agree. Several shelves full of junk wax in binders.
