Just as important as a CCL. More importantly : being loaded !

I have used a PO Box for years for peace of mind. They have even called me up in the past to tell me that a registered package has arrived. Great service!

One year I wanted to send out a Christmas card with a picture of my Post Office saying “Have a very Merry Christmas and very Happy and prosperous New Year from our house to yours.” I promptly got the “look” and decided to shelve my idea.

RE: "We have a PO box simply because our small town doesn't have postal delivery and so everyone gets a PO box for no charge."

Does your town still have a telephone switchboard operator and party lines?

PO box is essential for receiving coin related mail and packages.
ALSO...consider getting one near work or in an adjacent town to your home address. I live in a small town and any postal employee in my small post office can easily ask the carriers for my home address

I live in Wyoming and not having postal delivery can sometimes be a reality here.

Surprisingly even Jackson, WY does not have postal delivery and has a population of nearly 10,000 (making it the 10th largest city/town in Wyoming). It can be a major pain for everyone, particularly around the holiday. It also results in a lot of items being returned to sender as the shipping method is often not known and if the post office does final delivery it gets sent back if it only has the recipient's physical address.
