Same coin offered by two dealers

I found a coin on Collectors Corner that I'm interested in but I noticed two different dealers are offering the same exact coin. National Coin Wholesalers and Park Avenue Numismatics. Maybe they have some sort of partnership agreement but it "raised a warning flag" for me. They both have websites but one (PAN) clearly has outdated (~4 year old) info on their homepage. (another warning flag for me). Pricing between the two is very close but not exact.
Anyone here deal with either of these companies recently?

I wonder if one sold it to the other and seller never removed it from listing? Strange.....No experience with either.
I would call before doing any purchase transaction. It sends red flag.
Actually, I'm pretty sure I sent a message/note to one of these guys months ago (on another coin) and never got a reply. (Another flag in my book)
I recently bought a coin from Mark Feldman at National Coin Wholesalers. No problems with communication or delivery.
I suspect some of these dealers share inventory and have some kind of agreement in place.
Thanks,
Very common practice.
Very common practice.
I have seen as many as five or six dealers list the same coin, and in that specific instance it was legit.
Of course, some people attempt to sell coins that they do not own.
This topic gets mentioned here very frequently.
This happens all of the time. Dealers share inventory all the time. I am not sure why both would have the same coin on Collectors Corner but definitely happens on dealer's sites. I have done 6 figures deal with Bob Green of PAN and he is completely legit. I have not done much business with NCW but they have been around and I have not heard anything bad.
i do a LOT of biz with NCW. Great guys.
Yes, they let some dealers work with their huge inv. It makes sense to. Its gets it more exposure to sell.
I bought a coin from Park Avenue and had no problems dealing with Bob. I still have his email and possibly phone number if you need it.
Thanks, you guys have convinced me. I just wrapped up the deal with Bob a few mins ago. (I'm still not 100% sure who has the actual coin in their possession but as long as it gets to me, I don't guess that matters.)
Guessing: But I would assume the guy with the lower selling price actually has the coin. The other guy needs a larger markup to keep both the owner, and himself, happy.
Good guy.
Many of their coins share listings with a few other high volume houses.
I don't find it odd or any problem.
Well now you will have to show us this coin.
The difference was $5 (yes five) on a $9k coin... Not sure that would keep the other guy very happy.
I buy a lot on line and I just never saw (noticed) the same exact coin on two company websites at the same time so some warning flags popped up.
Common practice with these two specific sellers...both stand up guys...
This is quite common with many dealers. In fact, I think the most times I have seen the same coin listed simultaneously by different dealers has been five times.
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
I would choose any dealer Mark Feldman is associated with over any other dealer.
No Way Out: Stimulus and Money Printing Are the Only Path Left
Happens quite a bit, from what I have seen. I saw a seated dollar on one dealers website. Contacted them and the dealer could not physically locate it and said they would keep me informed on its search. Later that day I found the same coin, same s/n, and contacted them to ensure that it was the same coin...sure enough, he had it physically in his hand. I bought it...actually cheaper than the other seller who had it listed on their site.

It happens quite often, I've actually had coins off my website being offered on Ebay without my knowledge or permission.
Currently, there's an 1895 $1 In P67CAC on Collector's Corner being offered by 3 different dealers at three different prices (albiet close prices). It has images with each offering and is clearly has the same serial number.
I noticed the exact same thing, but what a difference in price! Here's how it went down.
Some So Cal dealer guy had the coin listed for $4,400, I called him and asked for a description. He said he would have to retrieve it from his office, and call me back. Meanwhile I found the same coin with the exact same picture on Park Avenue's website for $3,890, I called Park Avenue and received a description, as they had the coin "In Hand". The So Cal dealer guy said the best he could do was $4,150. I think not! Is this guy a middle man?
I recently bought a Nice Barber Half from NCW. My understanding that he is merely a wholesaler. He either owns the coin or he arranges to facilitate a wholesale price based on relationships he has with other dealers. I have seen coins on his site listed elsewhere. The coin I purchased was only listed on his site and he had it in his possession.
My purchase was for $1200 and Mark was very professional and prompt to ship the coin once funds were received.
