Very nice. Those Go issues are tough in high grade outside of the couple of hoard coins with high pops in 65, namely the 1868 and 1875 issues. And the overdates are really cool to collect too. I checked the grade on your coin, if it were a GTG I would have gone higher based on the TrueView, 63 or 64 to me. What do you think kept it at 62?

I was anticipating a 63 with an outside shot at a 64. I am sensitive to coins that have a dipped look to them and usually I avoid them. This is one that did not look too "over the edge" for what it is. The surfaces have some scuffs so more likely than not that would be the possible justification. As you pointed out, there have been some hoards found of certain dates and likely including some from 1861. This example just may not measure up well to the others PCGS has seen. The 1862 I have is a significantly better coin that this one with wonderful color- it graded 64.

    Very nice Coinkat!
Did you buy them raw or cross from another 3rd party grader ?
