I tend to focus on Maurice Tiberius bronze, but I could not resist this hunk of metal. The folles that I usually see are about 30mm. This Justinian I is about 36mm. For a comparison, a 17th century Thaler that I just obtained is about 43mm.

A superb example.
Maurice? That name was happening back then. Okay. Peace Roy

Because of their size and bold design, these are quite popular (for Byzantine coins) and there are a couple of date/mintmark combinations for Justinian I you do have to watch, which are frequently counterfeited. (Nicomedia year 12 comes to mind). But yours looks good.

Apparently I have been awarded one DPOTD.
Counterfeited? Wow, I had not heard about that. I will keep that in mind, though the Justinian was an impulse buy from whom I consider an impeccable vendor. Thanks.
