Zoins... I got the serial number on the other PCGS-MS62 specimen. Serial # 24247934. As you see, PCGS assigned to it a different coin number. So, the coin is actually pop 2/0 right now in MS62... but currently is showing pop 1/0 under 2 different coin numbers.
Happy to assist in getting the information more accurate on this rare collectible.

According to PCGS cert verification, PCGS 24247934 is a Genuine Not-Gradable 2009 Silver Eagle.
Is there a different cert number or is this a mechanical error?
I've added a note that NGC MS62 may have been crossed to this number, but more info would be good to definitively confirm, such as a photo which is currently missing. I'm surprised there's no TrueView. Do you know if it's possible to get a photo of this PCGS MS62?
I gave Stacks “heads up” on the second PCGS MS62 graded coin ahead of that article’s release, but for whatever reason, they ignored it. Instead, choosing to assert the coin they are auctioning is nicer than the NGC 62 coin (an assertion I am not sure I agree with by the way). And, failing to acknowledge the coin they are auctioning is actually a pop of 2 in that PCGS grade and recently failed to sell at another auction venue (if I read the comments here correctly). We will see how they catalog the coin they are selling.
Just my 2 cents.

Thank you for this amazing and informative post. I know the current owner of the PCGS AU55 (Knight-Pineda Specimen, currently #37231894) and saw the piece at the Chicago ANA 2019 show before it sold for $33,600. The current owner grew up in Asia and is a so-called dollar collector, and I don't think the AU-55 is going to be re-sold for another 40 years. The Knight-Pineda specimen (in my opinion) is far nicer in hand and much more like the past TrueView photo (under the old number # 83784389 ) in hand.
I am also friends with the owner of one of the Unc Details pieces who is in the market for a higher grade, so there may be some action in that area if something like an MS-60 to MS-62 were to go on the auction block.
There was an amazing exhibit on these SCDs at the 2019 Chicago ANA. I love the connection to the Assay Commission Medals too.

Pioneer1- The current owner of the AU55 did well on his purchase I believe. I personally thought the coin had a strong claim to the 58 grade. I even tried it once or twice before selling it on behalf of my principal. The PCGS 62 coin is wonderful as well. I think it has a strong claim to a 63 grade. You can tell your friend, if he would like a private showing of the PCGS 62 specimen, I would be happy to arrange for it. Just PM me.

I wonder why the entire mintage of this Gold Medal seems to have been impaired or treated badly during the ensuing years since it was struck, especially since they given as Presentation Pieces.

there is another Gold Wilson Dollar that just posted at Heritage for an auction in August 2-4. a cursory check by me doesn't seem to match any cert numbers or pictured medals.

ANACS 1040348 is now slabbed as PCGS Cert 39215465 and now offered on Heritage.
Here are the PCGS and ANACS photos.
Every bit as nice as the 62? But, likely at a tiny, tiny % of the price.
Just my 2 cents.

the medal below has a very distinguishing scratch right along the jawline, easily seen in the larger image.
