Back in WWI, the US had to fund the war in part by selling bonds to ordinary citizens, called the Victory Liberty Loan. Funders received a token which was often holed and engraved with their name.
I picked this up just over 10 years ago. The only other unholed one I've run across surfaced back in 2011.
