1984 Star #101 Jordan PSA 8 Lighthouse Slab

Just saw this on eBay. The person that had the lone PSA 8 from way back sent it in to them and they reholdered it with the new lighthouse slab. This is interesting for a few reasons.

PSA can and will yank your card or regrade your card if they deem necessary while they're in possession of it for a reholder. Now, there's certainly a point to be made that they probably just didn't want to shell out $10k just to take it off the market. But I have to think they looked long and hard at it and made sure they felt it was legitimate too. The last thing they need is for it to go to auction and have it create it's own unique price point that's much higher than a BGS 8 and then have to pay up on that level.

So, if they okayed it, what's stopping them from grading Star basketball again?

    That is a great sign.

BTW I didn't know they could change the grade on a re holder. Thank you.

I would say it's an extremely rare occurrence where something egregious was missed the first time (like pencil writing on the back), but it is a slight possibility.

I'm really surprised they would reholder a card that they don't currently grade. I wonder if I could get some Mech Errors processed for a few cards that have recently been given the dreaded 'No Longer Grading' tag in the pop report.

This statement from PSA makes it sound like no card would have its grade changed unless there were signs of damage/tampering. It doesn't sound like the card would be re-graded just due to noticing something that had been missed.

Yeah, apologies. I didn't mean to imply they would take a look at the corners and regrade it. It has to be completely egregious, like @PaulMaul pointed out.
