Just ran across first seller that doesn't accept Paypal on Ebay......Ebay is now totally insane!

Why mess with something that works? Now, Ebay has this brilliant new payment system that doesn't accept Paypal. What the heck is going on?

I think I might have over-reacted a little. I was just aggravated because I didn't have my wallet handy. Actually, once you enter your card number, Ebay keeps it for future use. It might not be all that bad. My thinking is that usually when Ebay makes a changed, it is ALWAYS NOT for the best.

I tried to read up on this and the article I read claimed paypal will still be accepted on ebay through 2023.
This seems to be a pilot program using a limited number of sellers. Are you guys sure there's no way to use paypal? I would think no seller would want to participate in this as many buyers, when told they can't pay with paypal, would just bail, costing the seller sales.
Anyone have the real lowdown on this?

I also just read that Paypal will be an option in ebay managed payments starting in Summer, 2019. But presumably the buyer will have to pay the paypal fees, right? Which doesn't seem fair, since the seller is eating the credit card fee under managed payments, just as all sellers do.
I've used them without paypal the last 2 times I used them, July and Oct. I had an interesting thing happen the other night while trying to pay for something on eBay, my AmEX card for whatever reason was declined when I tried to use the cart to pay, but I was able to use it to pay by going through my ebay summary page and hitting the pay now button. Never had that happen before. Maybe a one off problem.
I don't have the lowdown, but have been forced to use a credit card a few times recently. There was absolutely no way to use Paypal. It really sucks for those of us trying to use Paypal balance as the only funding for cards.

The times it's happened, I was shopping with the eBay app on my phone and it was not apparent until I went to pay.
