When 1 point equals thousands of dollars this can be expected.

Sounds like the youngsters have some ability if they are able to crack out and consistently get upgrades...the customer service skills will come in time!!

Andy, and most of us will end out careers with very little capital!!!!

Sad to say, for some that is not really a joke. You be shocked to learn the people who always dealt day to day for cash flow.

Probably not that shocked. Most people have to work hard at keeping the cash flow at an appropriate level, for whatever they do for a living.

Are the class of 59 mentoring any YDs?

Justin of Monster Coin Mart comes to mind as an up and coming YD.

    Well, he's got a little "in-house" mentoring...

Is that the only way to become a YD with a more classic style now?

I'm not saying that. But when coins are the family business, it's not exactly representative.

One YD of any kind wouldn’t be representative unless that is all there is, which is why I was asking for other examples.

I started my biz with ZERO in 1978. I starved and hustled like all hell just to survive for the first five years. I don't want to hear the moans of the entrance fee-it is what you make of it and how hard you try. There are geezers out there who would gladly mentor the younger gen.

    You make your own opportunities.

In fairness, it was much easier to establish a retail operation in 1978. Notice I said "easier" and not necessarily easy. The Internet has eroded much of the retail market and blurred the wholesale/retail distinction. You might not notice as much because you have established clientele and made a reputation that has stuck through the years. A younger person could do it today, but with the market and narrow margins, it is an uphill battle. Keep in mind that a new dealer starting out likely isn't going to focus on the top of the market either.

“Are the class of 59 mentoring any YDs?”

I’m a little older than Laura. Lol. Class of 58. But, still qualify as a “geezer”.

And jmlanzaf.. while Justin certainly had some “in house mentoring”, I can safely say he did not get the “country club” style. More like “Boot Camp” from “An Officer and a Gentleman” movie (1982 for those old enough to have been watching films back then). Lol.

    Wondercoin.
