Need some help indentifying a ‘93 Topps (baseball) vending box

Hey everyone... been a while since I last posted anything. I need some help identifying something.

Picked up this vending box at a local auction over the weekend on-the-cheap. I know it’s the Jeter series, so I though, why not? After searching eBay to get an idea of what these things normally go for, I discovered there is a GOLD vending box??? ....how do I tell if that’s what this one is?

The cellophane is good, obviously the factory seal is good... but there isn’t any clear indication if it’s GOLD or not. Maybe the label on bottom is a source of info? Hoping someone can help me out.

Other than a little bit of shelf dirt on the bottom, this thing is in really good shape.

Appreciate any info you can share!
-Russ

I'm interested in hearing what the group says too because I've never seen a vending box sealed by Topps.

It looks like it is a basketball vending box.

That is the Gold box. When you crack open a 1993 Topps Baseball Vending Case, 22 boxes look normal, and the other two boxes have the Topps logo tape, indicating it is all gold cards. Awesome find!

Are they also factory shrink wrapped?

You know what? I don't recall. I just checked our archives and the pics we have of the Topps Gold boxes were shrinkwrapped, but that obviously doesn't prove anything.

Like the OP, I picked up several of these gold boxes at that big Chicago estate auction last year for super cheap, as nobody seemed to know that they were gold boxes. Now everyone knows. LOL

Reed obviously knows his stuff, so I’m legitimately curious... Why would it say “basketball” on the top? Is it common for these to be stamped inaccurately?
