Anyone know why the card is so rare?
PWCC sold a PSADNA 8/authentic auto a month and a half ago for $3900. The REA auto is definitely nicer, but $12K+ nicer? Wow indeed.

There are 8 in the pop report and one is a PSA 10.
I wonder if the bidders didn't bother to check the pop report and thought it was the only one.
I highly doubt that. There are just a lot, A LOT of HOF signed rookie collectors and 8 is a very small number.
There were seven bidders above $2,799 for the PSA 8. It just seems very odd to pay over four times the price for an authentic copy a month later. Either someone got a great deal or someone will never get their money back if they decide to sell.
That is a remarkable price realized. the pop is low, but wow.

Puckett collectors are a rare breed. Nothing surprises me when scarce cards of his come up, I've seen far too many go for several to many multiples of what I would expect. I would guess this is just a case of a couple deep pockets who don't use eBay.
I am not a Puckett collector per se, but it would seem to me that for folks who collect players they saw play as kids, Puckett is one of the few if any HOFers of the era that has passed away and it doesn’t surprise me that prices would go up more quickly than guys that are still able to sign?

There are certainly a few Puckett collectors who pay crazy prices for certain cards. An autographed 84FU isn't something I am looking to add to my collection, but its probably the same few collectors that end up getting some of the more rare inserts that I end up way underbidding on.
I actively collect Kirby Puckett. I have collections of Michael Jordan, Emmitt Smith, Roberto Clemente, Dwight Gooden, Tom Seaver, Errict Rhett and Evan Longoria.
