The 1940 is a top pop at both PCGS and NGC. The 1935 is a pretty cool coin too.

The Germans invaded Belgium in May 1940. Wonder what happened to all of the coins dated 1940 ? 😳
Mintage 631,000. Only 3 coins graded at both TPG services.

Belgium did not make 50 francs again until 1948.

Please post the reverse of the 1935 Railway Centennial. I remember owning the only MS66 that existed 10+ years ago ,in a green Pcgs OGH, slabbed with the reverse on the front side. At the time it was the single finest certified of its type, although I cannot remember if it was position A or B. It also exists in medal alignment, which is very rare.

I had bought it because I really liked the rendition of the railway station on the reverse and as a memento of the years that I had spent in Belgium. The reason that I sold it escapes me now, as well as the buyer although I suspect it was wonder_coin ,whose feelgood collection was recently sold.

The only reason that I remember it is that it’s among the very few coins that I’ve regretted selling and I gave up on owning a Belgian memento after that.
