I used to think that Cris Carter had the best hands I've ever seen. Then Beckham. Nope. Neither.

'Tis Nuk. Dude does highlight-reel stuff all the time, but this may be le meilleur de tous.
And right on cue, an incompetent zebra flags him for offensive PI to nullify one of the best catches ever........if not the best.

D Hopp is a BEAST
I see no penalty there, but who knows with all these damn new rules in place.
did you watch the game? the assigned crew was a band of idiots. multiple occasions when they threw flags they shouldn't have (like the D Hop catch), and multiple occasions when they swallowed the hankie but shouldn't have. J Buck & Troy were so exasperated that they almost crossed the line a couple of times with their comments.
as if the NFL didn't have enough problems already

IMO Beckham's catch was better. Hopkins used his other hand to control the ball. Still very impressive since it was left handed but level of difficult on Beckham's was higher.
The officiating was atrocious as well. Completely agree that it should not have been called offensive PI.

Tony Gonzalez never dropped a pass. And never fumbled. Best hands ever.
And as far as the debate about who is better, Gronk or Travis Kelce, neither is as good as Gonzalez was,
he has all the records for tight ends.
i think Adam Theilen has the best hands ever, he doesn't drop any
Tony Gonzalez was very good, but I would take Gronk overall in a heartbeat!
I have been watching Josh Gordon this year with the Pats and have been very impressed. He cleanly snatches the ball out of the air and I have yet to see a ball hit his chest.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
fergie- Now show one of Gonzalez fumbling. He never fumbled. Best hands ever.
Securing the football after the catch isn't not indicative of good hands.
Robb
Your sentence is under review.
And on further review, your double negative turned into a positive,
meaning securing the football after the catch is indicative of good hands.
Nice fumble, fergie.
lol, where was my proofreader when I needed them?
I think Gonzalez gets the nod for longevity and availability when discussing GOAT tight ends at the moment. That said, for one game or one season most coaches would take Gronk over Gonzalez because he is more explosive and a greater threat at the tight end position.
Robb
For one game, Gronk no doubt. For one season, give me Gonzalez with Gronk averaging just under 5 games missed/season the past 5 seasons.
@Darin Tony Gonzalez dropped 20 passes just in the years from 2009 to 2013 including 7 in 2010 which was tied for 7th most in all of football.

This isn't me knocking the guy in any way,I'm just pointing out the he has dropped plenty of passes over the years.

TG was very good, but not near the GOAT.
He was more durable than Gronk is and he played forever. I'm more than happy with Gronk but i doubt he breaks most of the TE records that Tony holds. The only career TE record I see Gronk eventually breaking is most career TDs by a tight end.
My vote for best hands ever is without a doubt,Larry Fitzgerald.

Larry is great, but not a TE. I would put Whitten way up there. He was a very good blocker. Had great hands. Ran good routes for a tight end. He hat a lot of TD's and put up very good numbers during his career. And in 15 years he missed 1 game. I'm going to google TE's and check out the top guys.
Witten definitely is one of the best TEs ever.

I found this little blog on Whitten:
An 11-time Pro Bowler, Witten holds several NFL records, including most receptions in a single season by a tight end (110 in 2012) and most catches in a game by a tight end (18 in 2012). The sure-handed Witten also owns a cornucopia of team records, including most career receptions, most career receiving yards and most consecutive seasons with a reception, among others. Witten's 68 career receiving touchdowns ranks third in Cowboys history and fifth all-time among tight ends in NFL history.
@erickthered here is the line on Whitten and Gonzalas. These 2 are head and shoulders above all the others.
Whitten:
15 years.....1 game missed
rec...…...1152
yards...12448
avg...…….10.8
TD's...…..68
4 years of 1000 yards or more
Gonzalas:
17 years.....2 games missed
rec......1325
yards...15127
avg...….11.4
TD's.....111
4 years of 1000 yards or more
Pretty even based on 2 years diff in career's.
I would give Whitten the edge on blocking.
As far as GOAT.....to me it is a toss-up.
I was surprised how much better numbers these 2 guys had compared to other considered great TE's
Gonzalez & Witten are 2nd & 4th on the career receptions list, the next TE is Ozzie Newsome at 54th & Greg Olsen at 55.
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/rec_career.htm
Gonzalez is 6th in career receiving yards,Witten is 21st. The next TE is Antonio Gates at 29.
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/rec_yds_career.htm
Gates has the most career TDs by a TE and is 6th on the career receiving TD list,Gonzalez 8th and Witten at 49. Gronk is 31st.

These lists include WR's......I was only comparing TE's, which puts Whitten and TG at 1 &2.
I know,I was just showing you where they ranked all time in those categories compared to everyone.

You don't have to tell me about Hopkins. He killed us (Cowboys) a few weeks ago!
Okay, I'll admit he had more drops than I thought he did, still over the course of his career not that many
compared to how many receptions he had.
Here's an interesting stat. He had 6 career fumbles, but 5 of those were in his first three years.
So that means after he became one of the best tight ends in football, he had 1 fumble over his last
1,157 receptions. And when he was with the Chiefs(probably with Atlanta also) he was double teamed a lot and took many hard hits. His ability to hang on to the football and not cough it up was pretty impressive.
His fumble totals were damn impressive and he was a great tight end. That site i used only started keeping track of drops in 2009, I had another site for dropped passes bookmarked that went back to the early 2000's but i couldn't find it.
